Ojai
Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods.
Wash your spirit clean.

A beautiful summer day in Ojai, CA and the sun has just risen. Still early enough that no one was around… just me and the mountains.
Place is a very important aspect of living for me and plays a big part in this typology, “Deconstruction.”.
I feel at home in the mountains.
Hiking became a favorite past-time after moving from New York City, land of tall buildings and cement, to Portland, OR, land of many rivers and hiking trails.
I realized the stream of creativity really opens up while I’m hiking… no distractions except the sound of birds or water flowing from a stream or waterfall.
Even when I’m in a funk, I feel better while walking in the woods and sometimes get more clarity on things I’m confused about.
These days, I try to get a hike in once a week.
It’s no secret that where I live now, in the Santa Ynez Valley, I am blessed by being surrounded with gorgeous mountains that I get to explore.
You can see some of my photographs from the valley on Instagram @robbiekaye
Here’s to you exploring!

PS: I made this self-portrait before I could find a long sleeve white dress, which I later had to sew myself. (I’ll stick to photography, but it did the trick).
