Into the Woods
I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams,
and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined,
they will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.
Henry David Thoreau
Speaking of experiments…I’m into the woods right now.
The gallery where 2 of my paintings from Treads were shown, is presenting an exhibit of miniature art work.
Miniature meaning 6×6 or smaller.
At first I thought I’d create mini-tread paintings… but those are hard to stretch so small.
I decided to print small photographs on velvet fine art paper and mount them on old barn wood.
Not only do I love up-cycling the wood, I also loved how certain images, particularly black and white, were complimented by the old wood and paint, still visible.
It’s fun to create things from objects that have history and age.
I’m looking forward to finding more old wood and creating more pieces for this collection.
For now, four of these little pieces will be exhibited at Beyond The Lines Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, CA, starting on May 27th.
If you’re interested in being a collector of one, just shoot me an email!
Hope you get to go for a walk in the woods or try an experiment soon!
