A couple of years ago I had the honor of being interviewed by Jean Noel Bassior on her TV web show, Talk Live in L.A. I worked with Jean Noel in 2010, when I first started writing the Beauty and Wisdom book. She was my book mentor. I didn’t know a thing about writing a book or a proposal and she taught me everything I now know. Not only was she a great teacher, she is a great writer herself and I was honored when she asked me to do this interview for my then, soon to be published, monograph, Beauty and Wisdom. I thought I would share the interview because it answers a lot of questions about the interview, the women and the process of how the project came about.
Beauty and Wisdom occupies a very special space in my heart and some of you have heard me say several times, I hope to travel to Europe and other countries, before it’s too late (since these rituals of weekly beauty parlor appointments for this generation will be obsolete at some point), and interview the women there to expand the cross-section of women that I interviewed here in the states. I wonder how their perceptions of aging are different and how that generation is perceived there?
Since the new year, I’m on a mission to do one thing at a time… and it is soooo difficult for me! When I see things like this interview, I want to make that journey happen where I do interview women in other countries, but I promised myself, one thing at a time for at least the next 6 months. Meanwhile, I get to enjoy sharing what I have gathered so far and will look forward to whatever may unfold in the future. For now, I hope you enjoy this interview and Jean Noel, she is such a delightful host and speaker and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to share my work on her show.
