In a society that is so savvy electronically in communication, I was drawn to places where conversations between people occurred in person. In my exploration, I noticed that we create spaces for conversations but they are not being used.

No one is ever present at these arranged sitting places where chairs are set up face to face and I was struck by the emptiness of the space and the lack of intimacy that lingered in each setting. I was intrigued by the graphic quality of the chairs and also by the imagined conversations between them as I wondered what they would be saying to each other.

The more I photographed, I would notice more of these settings and the chairs took on personas. I wondered if people actually sat and communicated in these settings anymore or were they being replaced by new and popular ways of electronically communicating?
